About 220 middle and high school students from northeast South Dakota will be on the Northern State University campus on Wednesday, March 18, for the National History Day regional competition. Students will present research projects as part of the competition, which will run from 8 a.m. to noon in the NSU Student Center and Missouri River Room. Each fall, maroon and gold fever takes over the campus and community of Aberdeen during Northern State University's annual homecoming celebration, Gypsy Days.
The week culminates in the largest parade in South Dakota: the annual Gypsy Day Parade, which draws about 200 groups from South Dakota and surrounding states, including floats and marching bands.
