Storybook Land
Storybook Land is the crown jewel of Aberdeen, South Dakota
Bring Their Fairy Tales to Life
All aboard!
Start your visit with a ride on The Storybook Land Express. It’s a great way to see the entire park along with the small neighboring zoo, and it’s a family favorite. The loading station is an authentic 1881 train depot that recaptures the excitement and history of the railroad era when Aberdeen earned its nickname the Hub City. Jump aboard daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets are $3 each and can be purchased in the Visitors Center.
Magic and Wonder
Surrounded by a moat and guarded by knights in shining armor, the medieval style castle is home to many special events and performances. It is home to the national award-winning Storybook Land Theatre Company that presents a series of children’s plays each summer. Three performances are presented each week from mid-June to early August. Take part in the magic on
Tuesdays at 10 a.m., Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Fridays at 7 p.m. The castle is available to rent for group picnics, receptions and special events as well.
What Visitors are Saying
Experience Characters of your Childhood
Humpty Dumpty
Walk by Humpty Dumpty to ride one of the park’s newest attractions. This coaster dips, turns and flies 20 feet in the air along the track at speeds up to 20 mph. Open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Jack & Jill
Join Jack & Jill as they venture up the hill to fetch a pail of water. After climbing the hill, remember to take the long rolling slide back down the hill to avoid the same fate as the characters in the childhood-favorite rhyme.
Captain Hook
Think you have what it takes to be one of Captain Hook’s band of pirates? Take hold of the wheel and pilot the ship to its destination. A slippery slide offers a safe exit from the main deck on the ship. Ahoy matey!
