South Dakota and the American Story
(Lamont Gallery) Objects of patriotism, Americana, statehood, military history, and civic life are shown within the lens of the Dakotas and the American Midwest in this display celebrating and commemorating the U.S. 250th Anniversary! The exhibit includes portions of a poster exhibit describing the travels of the Lewis and Clark expedition, which crossed the land of South Dakota in the early 1800s, and artifacts and photos from the 19th and 20th centuries, to modern-day. Thanks to our many donors who have contributed artifacts and archival materials to the museum collection to make this exhibition possible.
