Oz, the National Convention

Wizard of Oz and fairytale fans, rejoice! The International Wizard of Oz Club is bringing their annual convention to Aberdeen, South Dakota this July. L. Frank Baum, the creator of “America’s Fairytale,” lived and worked in Aberdeen, and this year, we’re going to be walking in his footsteps and enjoying fairytales in Aberdeen!

From celebrated Oz scholars like Michael Patrick Hearn to bus tours of Aberdeen through Baum’s eyes, 2025’s Oz, the National Convention has a little something for everyone, from dedicated Oz aficionados to those who are new to the world of Oz. Enjoy a sparkling gala dinner and a fabulous auction of rare and interesting Oz goodies, make new friends, and learn more about the wonderful world of Oz!

We can’t wait to see you there, but don’t hesitate… the first 25 registrants get a free copy of the Oz in Aberdeen catalog of the library’s L. Frank Baum Collection, and the first 40 registrants get a copy of the special Aberdeen edition of Mother Goose in Prose.
