Native Soul Art: 11 Degrees of Tatanka exhibition

Native Soul Art: 11 Degrees of Tatanka by Jerry Fogg will be on display from March 1-May 14, 2021 in the JFAC Gallery.

Jerry Fogg, an enrolled member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe (Ihanktowan Nakota Sioux Oyate), uses various materials to create unique works of art that tell a story. “Foggma” is the name Fogg has given his distinct mixed media style and approach. Every piece is one-of-a-kind, and never reproduced.

Culture and history are abundant in Native Soul Art: 11 Degrees of Tatanka. The story of White Buffalo Calf Woman greets visitors as they enter the gallery space. Each painted buffalo skull is uniquely adorned with beadwork, feathers, and objects that represent and distinguish traditional elements of Nakota culture.

On Wednesday, April 14th, artist Jerry Fogg will be in the JFAC Gallery from 4:00-5:00pm to discuss his work and artistic process. During this time, drum group T’a Bloka Ska will be in the JFAC lobby performing songs. This event is free and open to the public.
