Family Histories: Your Legacy – Museum School
You do not have to be a professional writer to gather family stories and share them. Kiera Ball, local author, will share ideas and get you motivated to start recording family stories. This 90-minute writing workshop, entitled Heirloom: Creative Life Writing will encourage attendees to consider their own lives and memories as “artifacts” to preserve and will cover topics such as descriptive writing, narrative voice, and the writing process.
Bring: A favorite recipe or photograph from your family.
Dacotah Prairie Museum presents a series of 90-minute workshops where you can learn how to preserve your family artifacts and carry on your own family history from professional curators and industry speakers. Space is limited for each session.
Participants for each session will receive a take-home kit ($25+ value) to help you begin protecting your personal keepsakes, courtesy of a community grant from the 3M Foundation.
Participants will work off a different prompt each week!
