In honor of Aberdeen’s unique history of serving free pheasant sandwiches to service men and women who passed through town during WWII, and in celebration of hunting season and all things “Rooster Rush,” the Aberdeen Area Convention & Visitors Bureau will be hosting an open house event. Join us from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 2 at the historic Milwaukee Depot, located at 10 Railroad Ave SW (located across the street from The Flame Restaurant).
The public is invited to take a step back in time at this free event. They can sample a bit of Aberdeen’s past - pheasant sandwiches, donuts, coffee and lemonade will be served. And, the James Valley Model Railroad club will have their display open for everyone to enjoy - free of charge!
During this event, Aberdeen’s first-ever contest for the best pheasant sandwich will be held. The inaugural “Pheasant Sandwich Shootout” will be open to professional and home chefs. The actual judging will begin at 6:00 p.m.
