  1. ACT Presents: "Leading Ladies"

    September 17, 7:30 PM - September 21, 9:30 PM @ Aberdeen Community Theatre

    This 2014 performance of "Leading Ladies" is presented by ACT. Two desperate actors resolve to convince an old millionairess that they are her long lost nephews, to whom she plans to leave her fortune. The actors' plan becomes complicated when they discover that the relatives are actually nieces, not nephews. Romantic entanglements abound and hilarity ensures. Tickets go on sale for ACT subscribers on August 26, 2014 and for the public on September 2, 2014. The tickets may be purchased at Kathleens, by phone, or online.

  2. 2014 Northeast South Dakota Celtic Faire And Games

    September 20, 10:00 AM - September 21 @ Brown County Fairgrounds

    The 2014 Northeast South Dakota Celtic Faire and Games is a two-day event which will feature a unique blend of sporting events, agricultural events and arts, such as storytelling, dance and music, which will educate the public on Celtic culture and its contribution and impact on our American society and culture. The many activities such as concerts, musical workshops, dance performances, dance instruction, heritage arts demonstrations, traditional Celtic sporting events, historical and genealogical experts and authors will give participants a well-rounded understanding of the Celtic peoples and lives they lived.

  3. "Hansel & Gretel and the L-o-o-o-ng Way Home" Presented by the Aberdeen Elks Lodge

    September 21, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Holgate Middle School Theater

    This 2014 new original musical adventure for the whole family is sponsored by the Aberdeen Elks Lodge. Join the fun with the Lamb Caravan from Lamb Arts Regional Theatre of Sioux City, Iowa.

  4. The Neil Reede Memorial Golf Tournament

    September 22, 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM @ Moccasin Creek Country Club

    This 2014 Neil Reede Memorial Golf Tournament is open to the public and promoted by Upper Plains Contracting, Inc.

  5. Safe Harbor Hosts - "Beyond the Victim" Conference

    September 23, 8:00 AM - September 24, 5:00 PM @ Aberdeen Best Western

    Safe Harbor hosts an annual conference featuring discussion on issues related to domestic violence, human trafficking, child sexual abuse, sexual assault, and offender accountability. This conference will provide practical, hands-on training in the day-to-day handling of these cases. Safe Harbor welcomes law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, shelter staff, victim advocates, judges, counselors, social workers, elected officials, parole and probation officers, educators, child protection, and the public.

  6. NSU Women's Volleyball vs U-Mary

    The 2014 Downtown Aberdeen Farmers Market will take place every Thursday with a variety of vendors each week. Join us for fresh produce, baked goods, soaps and lotions, and a variety of other goods made by local vendors.

    This event is Aberdeen's largest "2nd Paw (Hand) Sale"!

  14. Aberdeen Walk to End Alzheimer's

    September 27, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Wylie Park - Pavilion

    The 2014 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. Held annually in more than 650 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease, the nation's sixth leading cause of death. Walk to End Alzheimer's unites the entire community -- family, friends, co-workers, social and religious groups and more--in a display of combined strength and dedication in the fight against this devastating disease. While there is no fee to register, each participant is expected to fundraise in order to contribute to the cause and raise awareness.

    We are excited to welcome back Julie Clark, founder of the Inspirational Coffee Club. Julie joined us in 2012 and we are pleased she will be sharing with us her new presentation BE all you can be: DISCOVERING THE HERO WITHIN. More details to follow soon. Hope to see you all on September 27!

  16. Living History Fall Festival

    September 27, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ Granary Rural Cultural Center

    The last big event of the 2014 season. Fun for all ages. Enjoy the colors of fall & see history come to life. Re-enactors, demonstrations, kid's activities, music and more! Concessions available on site.

  17. James Valley Model Railroad Open House

    September 27, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Old Milwaukee Railroad Depot

    The 2014 open house dates will include viewing three model train layouts running in three different scales. There are long freight trains with some over 80 cars long. Club members will be present to help with any model railroad questions. New members are always welcome. The Saturday dates from November 29 to December 20, 2014 are the "7th Annual Christmas at the Depot" program.

    September 27, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Barnett Center

    Join us in cheering the 2014-2015 NSU volleyball team on to victory!

  19. Gypsy Days - NSU Homecoming

    September 29, 8:00 AM - October 4, 10:00 PM @ Northern State University

    Each October, maroon and gold fever takes over the campus and community of Aberdeen during Northern State University's annual homecoming celebration, Gypsy Days. The weeklong celebration draws many alumni back to Northern for a full slate of fun events. The festivities also include the crowning of a Gypsy Day queen and marshal. Northern students decorate business windows all around Aberdeen with Wolves-themed paintings. The week culminates in the largest parade in South Dakota: the annual Gypsy Day Parade, which draws about 200 groups from South Dakota and surrounding states, including floats and marching bands. The week also features Northern football, volleyball and soccer games.
