The Capitol Theatre opened on January 12, 1927 and is on the National Historical Register. The theatre includes a sixty-foot tall Capitol marquee and six French era-deco chandeliers. Aberdeen Community Theatre (ACT) performs in the Capitol Theatre and had the honor of representing the United States at the International Festival in Teyoma, Japan in 2008. ACT has won numerous awards though the American Association of Community Treatre biennial festival cycle again advancing to the National festival in 2009. The Aberdeen Community Theatre stages productions April-November and the Capitol Cinema shows films for your viewing pleasure December-March.
